Help Scouts in your local area
We have 18 Scout Groups across Abingdon and Didcot. We always welcome more help so that we can support more young people. It can be as much or as little time as you can give.
As well as adults to work directly with young people, we also need people to help with governance as part of a trustee board, help with practical work such as keeping the building and equipment in good order and many other things.

Become our next District Youth Lead
Are you aged 18–24 and passionate about making sure young people have a voice in Scouts? As District Youth Lead, you’ll inspire and support volunteers to put young people at the heart of decision-making, encourage youth leadership, and help young people make the most of the opportunities available to them. You’ll work with volunteers across the District, help shape the future of Scouting, and have fun along the way! The role can be shared by two or more people.

Lead our District Support Team and make a difference
As Support Team Lead, you’ll bring together a team of volunteers to support our Groups and Units, engage with local communities, promote Scouting, coordinate administration and fundraising, and help more young people enjoy the opportunities Scouting offers. You’ll lead and support a range of sub-teams, including communications, community engagement, equipment and youth joining. This is a great opportunity to make a real difference, and the role could be shared by two or more people.

Join our Recruitment Team and help Scouting grow
We’re looking for volunteers to join our District Recruitment Team, including a Team Lead to coordinate our efforts. You’ll help Groups, Explorer Scout Units and other District teams attract new adult volunteers, support local recruitment activities, and connect people who offer to help with the right opportunities. Whether you’d enjoy leading the team or working directly with Groups and Units, you can help us bring more volunteers into Scouting and give more young people the chance to take part. The Team Lead role could be shared by two or more people.

We’re looking for volunteers to join our District Welcome Team, led by Rebecca Preston. You could help volunteers complete their joining journey, support meaningful role reviews, or develop and coordinate inductions for new volunteers across our Groups, Units and District teams. Whether you have experience in people support, organisation or simply want to help others feel welcome, your contribution will make a real difference.
